Valentine (redo, Jan. IG Challenge)

I cannot believe I stumbled upon The Progress Lettering Challenge on IG for this month. So perfect, since I have still so many I want to redo (from my own personal one).

The "guidelines" are to take any past lettering piece (for the assigned days/month) and redo it, to compare you lettering progression. I won't be posting all my redos, since some do not fall under my Folded pen category.

So, for Day 4, here is one from Feb. 2020:

When I first did the bottom piece, I loved it. I was a actually a trial sketch from 2020.
Now when I look at it, i see where it definitely needs work. How perfect for the Progress Lettering Challenge on IG (Jan. Redos).
(couldn't find the original, so I uploaded a screen shot from my IG)

I like the "bounciness" of the bottom piece, and the first part of it...until the n. Then it's ugh/yerg/yikes downhill. The t and heart are ok, but that first n and last e...no.

(The funny thing now is that I don't like the first part of my new one! -- the V and a. I like the rest of it.)
