Celebrate! (Redo)

It's time to Celebrate the season, so am posting this generic festive piece.

Did the bottom original for my 100 Days of Neon challenge, but I cringe now to look at it!
Wish I had done the redo stacked like original. (Guess I can always redo again!)

Folded pen and neon colors (again!)

Another Cmas Tree

Made this as a Thank You last year and love how it turned out. (esp. with the heart stamp!)

Such a simple idea.

Did another set:

This is a before pic of first one, with matching To/From gift tag.

Word tree (Redo)

Another redo for my 100 Day Challenge:

Saw this word tree on Pinterest (no idea of artist) and redid my way.

Not the best, but fun to try. Below is a trial piece (with a filter).

RW Tree redo

I can't remember if I first saw this pic on Pinterest or Julien Chazel's website, but I immediately saw it as an abstract Cmas tree. My first attempt was a few years ago (light green tree) but I used bad ink and did it on sketchbook paper, so it bled and feathered. Still turned out somewhat nice. (I really like my newest redo! Did for an envelope.)

Below is image from Pinterest. Have no idea what it's originally supposed to be. Love his folded pen work!

Lone image of env.

Before pic.

Better image of 1st attempt. Added more elements.

Grateful, Blessed, Thankful (Redos)

Thanksgiving Day themed redos.

1.  My smaller white lettering is awful in both, so ignore that.
I did the first one in April last year, for a 30 Days of Gratitude personal lettering challenge. My pen must've needed cleaning, as the ink was leaking out of it. In addition, I hate the last part of it where the e /f crossbar goes into the t, u and l. Otherwise, it's ok. I like how it slants vs. the redo.

These 2 were my first attempts. (Bottom one is with a filter.)

2.  Not sure what I don't like about my "thankful" redo. Wish I could figure out, as I don't hate it, but there's just something about it that bugs me.

Original redo in red ink. Top redo is with a filter. (and added chalk pastel colors)

3.  I kinda like my original, but the letters are messy and the darn ink bled. However, I LOVE my redo! (with and without color -- see before pic below -- with just walnut ink.) Turned out so well, as I struggle with double letters. (#mehappy)  😊

From 2019: Grateful, Give Thanks

Sharing "older" pieces.

Love this one. Fun lettering. Black ink with metallic w/c over.

Did this as an insert for an env. exchange. Walnut ink with drop-in colors.

From 2019: Thankful (Parallel Pen)

I know this isn't a folded pen, but with Thanksgiving this month, just wanted to share this piece I did, as I kinda like it.

After many years of curiosity, I finally treated myself to a Pilot Parallel Pen. LOVE it! Clean crisp lines and great ink flow. The only thing is with the ink cartridge, if you want a diff. color, you have to wait til you've used the current one (unless you don't care... then it's a wasted cartridge).

I used the black first (comes with red too; have to buy add'l. colors separately), then filled in with fall-ish jewel tone colors.

After that, I added gold metallic ink on top.

Then, I added some "swirl" accents, but I could've done without.

I hope you all have found something to be thankful for this year!

TPWK !

Another redo for my IG project!

I was so thrilled with this idea, as was pretty happy with how it turned out. Gave me numerous ideas.

Original found on Pinterest.

With filter in B&W.

Abstract Design to Maggie

More fun making abstract designs.

Need to find final pic. (I'm so unorganized this season with my art photos!)

Insert. So happy with my lettering for this!

Hug it Out

 From 2019

This was for one of the HLC (Happy Lettering Challenges) on IG.

So glad I came upon these, as they are great motivators to create.

Cannot remember what tool I used, but it looks like my Ruling Writer and gouache.
(wish I had made notes)

Background is pastels.

love. (Spread it.)

This is something I did for V Day last year (see in red below) and actually, i think I tried to emulate something sent to me from a former pen pal, Judy Hovde. (If I can find hers, i will update.)

Redid in primary, base colors.

filter to make more bright.

Original pic, as i tried to make it rainbow, but failed!

Dislikes:  "l" too short and bottom part of e too closed

Practice piece.

TPWK.

As Harry would say!

Saw the original on Pinterest, but no idea who is the creator.
Thought it perfect and fun to redo.

Play Nice.

Again, in reference to last year.

Need to work on my negative space.

Did one in neon too.

Practice piece, just for fun (original I redid).

"It's a beautiful day..."

"...in the neighborhood!"  :)

I did the bottom piece in January of this year, but am posting b/c of November of last year!

Although at first i liked the bottom piece, I was unhappy with:
1. the tail on the a -- too long.
2. the u -- a bit crooked and too condensed
3. the top tail of the f -- crooked
4. how the last u intersects with the l.

Love my redo much better!

Wonder.

As is, "I wonder what will happen?"

For this month's redos on IG, i'm doing a bit of a theme early on. Can you guess what is is??  😁 (Head over to my IG acct to see others:  https://www.instagram.com/olovey1/ )

Original bottom piece is by Teri Martin. This is a photocopy as I cannot find the original online.

This was an early attempt last year.

Extra Novembers

Just playing. I like the Top Right one and Bottom Right /"Leaf" ones best.

Hello November!

Better paper with this redo. Original (below, 4th pic) bled/feathered a bit.

Forgot to erase my lines b/4 taking pic.

Added a few words, which I had sketched out last year:

Original from last year (2020).

Used my Horizon folded nib and also did a video (set to some beautiful music).

Check it out on my youtube channel! *Need to post

This is from 2019. I really don't like it, but at the same time, there is something about it. Maybe I'll try to redo this as well.
