This page is to show how you can get the same effect of fp/gestural/expressive lines & letters from tools other than typical folded pens.
Using these different supplies can be just as fun as folded pens, as you never know how things will turn out.
First up is a broad-edge calligraphy marker. I lettered "The Quick Brown Fox..." by angling it on its side. Love how it turned out and had fun discovering this new way of using my markers.
This is especially nice if you are wanting to play or sketch "on the go"; you don't have to worry about ink. And great way to use up your worn markers.
another sample with a split nib.
Next is extra fine point Posca markers. You can also use other sizes, but I wanted the extra fine point, in order to write small script.
another sample with Poscas.
I will have to find a sample with the larger sizes. Will update when I do! (or I'll make one)
You can also use a chisel-tip calli. nib. This was a happy accident, as I was playing with my Speedball C5. It's small enough to make these gestural marks, however larger sizes (depending on the sharpness of the nib and your paper) could snag.
This is an old Crayola brush tip marker.
Another broad edge marker.
and another Posca!
This is a mix of Poscas and a chisel tip gold marker.
Same for this one. The broad edge black is the same brand as the gold: Callipen?
Here I used a metallic Zig fudebyori brush marker. These metallic ones are great for dark colors as well as slick papers (e.g. magazine pages)
And a plain Zig brush.
Another broad edge callig. maker.
And a Crayola ("Crayoligraphy"!)
