Just missing Y (could not come up with a lettering prompt for that).

 

Z...Zig Markers

Zig markers go WAAAAAAY back. (I probably have a few that are 3 decades old!)

Wasn't sure if I wanted to do traditional italic or gestural, so I did a mixture. I probably could have done both words in this manner, but I wanted to focus on ZIG.

And this concludes my ABC's of Lettering Challenge! (check!)

Now, I just need to put all my tools and knowledge, skills, etc. to use.

 

Y...Yearning for Learning

Could NOT find a Y word, so here's what I came up with!

I have a constant Yearning for Learning with my art and lettering.

And I love it!  :)

 

X.... x-height

Full disclosure: I struggle with x-heights. I hate using guidelines; I've always felt like my lettering always looked off with or without them. Maybe I was never taught the correct way to use them? Or maybe I just need to go back to basics. (OR maybe I'm just a lettering rebel!  :D -- ding, ding, ding: we have a winner, folks!) 😄

Case-in-point:  although I like my lettering, you can see it looks off/curved, etc.

Whatever. (I'm having fun with it, and that's all that matters!)

W...Watercolor

Another difficult prompt, BUT i came up with 2!  :)

Racking my brain for another T lettering word, but this is all I can think of.

Not the best lettering, so i had to give it a little "ooomph" with a red dot.

 

R... Reservoir

I could have done "Ruling pen" for R as well, but I wanted to go with reservoir.

Below is my attempt at using my real pen to be part of the R, but it was a fail (plus, I like my drawn version).

This would have been way more fun had a had a real feathered quill!

 

O...Ornamental lettering

Ughhhh... playing catch-up! (I thought i had all these scheduled.)

I so mad I cannot find my go-to alpha template stencil I normally use. So I had to buy a new one.

Was going to do "Descender" but came up with this instead.

 I decided to start another alphabet challenge, as I've always wanted to do this one.

So, for the month of June, I'm doing the ABCs of Lettering with lettering/calligraphy/typography terms.

(Getting a late start posting, but am now playing catch-up!)

I loved it, except the lettering got squished at the end. So, I redid for my art healing journal.

*Actually, I originally tried doing this smaller with an experimental piece from my akim class (earlier this year). 3D border. Pointed pen.

I like it except for the top of the border (looks like abstract lettering), and the ink I used -- not as crisp for my pp lettering.
