Another piece for Nele, but this one was my 2nd attempt, which I like better!

Happy Accident here:  I love how the inks mixed.

This is the original. Wanted to do in primary colors b/c of Art. I may send her both.

 

"Healing" piece

 I've been in major creative mode lately (mainly making pieces for my Belgium snail mail pal, Nele), and this is one piece I was thrilled about (although I need to redo).

I messed up some of the top lettering, but overall, not bad!

The inspiration (Betina Naab, found on flickr) -- no idea what it says.

Lettering the bottom part (btw, it's "Pain" not "Pan", as it's a ligature).

I also blocked off the negative space i needed to cut out for stenciling.

Then I cut to make the stencil (yay, it stayed in-tact!)

Next, I used color pencil and layered the words.

I then lettered in script, using an extra fine tip Posca pen. See words below. (I'm so mad though, as I messed up the F in the last word -- I effed up the F! 😆 And the word "healing" --  I plan to do that in just gold. Plus, my lettering got uneven. Sigh.

Am also thinking of creating bigger with paint on canvas! Wish me luck if I attempt that.

New mini pen! (homemade)

 I made yet another homemade mini pen (already have 2)! The main reason: the sample vial openings of the Ferris Wheel Press inks are so small. My first mini pen fits, but I prefer the one made with soda can metal (vs. the metal flashing). But that one won't fit b/c it's taped to a handle that's too big. Grrr.

Also, I'm so bummed as my Parallel Pens are just slightly too big too. Otherwise, they'd be perfect. (Sigh.)

Parallel Pen Play (slant tip)

Bought a new slant tip PP recently, as I wanted one that I could use whenever, with whatever ink. I've also been having fun mixing inks! So here is just an abstract alpha using this tool.

I'd been wanting one of these ever since seeing it at JNB, and now P&I carries them!

I must say though that I love my slant nib a lot more.

At first it was so "weird" to use, and I don't know why (I kind want to get a bigger size, just to compare), but, as you can see below (last pic!), it's growing on me!

Test on WC

Was testing some India ink on watercolor, and when I dabbed up the excess, thought the remaining color was kinda cool.

Plus, I love the tail of the t's crossbar! (from my homemade mini folded pen)
