New Pen!

I'd been wanting a radius cut Parallel Pen, ever since I found out they were available, but since JNB only sells them (that I know of) and I hate to pay for shipping, I kept putting it off. I thought about making my own, but didn't know how hard it would be.

Then, I found out that P&I sells a slant tip one! Was so excited, so I decided to treat myself.

Red ink as I'm doing some "Cmas in July" projects.

Not sure if it's the way it's cut or the nib needs to be cleaned, but I find the ink flow isn't very smooth. (esp. when making thick lines) I still plan to get a radius cut one; just need to make my order worth it.

*In case you're wondering, the radius cut one is more curved than the slant tip. (See it on the JNB website.)
*I also updated this under my Types of Folded Pens page.

July 4th theme, Stars

I love clear envelopes, but am always challenged with how to use them.
So, for July 4th this year, I came up with this idea of star cards as inserts.

For the names, I used my metallic Zig fudebiyori markers, as they work great on slick surfaces and they don't smear!

folded pen and India ink.

Agree.

Did this for a HLC on ig in 2019.

Tried to create a "chaotic" background, then "agree" as an overlay (to agree amongst disarray?)

Ruling Writer and primary colors.

Snail Mail Monday (to Holly)

Did this early 2019. I call it overlapping abstract lettering (or "illegibly abstract"?)  Wasn't sure how to letter her name so i tried to make it a little funky. Then I kept adding layers upon layers of watercolor splatters and ink blots. Festive and fun! (I've since made more like this.)

I like how the address & zip turned out too. No idea what stamp I used!

Similar one I did for Inta:

Got the idea from an env. to me from Glen Epstein (in mid 90's):

Can you tell it's my name? Loved this.

Celebration Stamp (red env.), to Phillip

Although not much room for coloring in counters with his name, I still like how it turned out.

Cancelled env. he posted on his blog and here are some comments!

"A very nice exchange envelope from Leslie. Loving the coloring and the great lettering to go with the stamp."

"C'est vraiment une belle enveloppe !" (Very Beautiful Envelope!)

"The colored shading is brighter in person compared to the scan. I love the large lettering." (from finn)

"I know it is the contrary, but it seems like the stamp has been designed for this very envelope..." (Mail Adventures)

Here is link to my env.:

Testing ruling pen

Playing with one of my ruling pens.

I love how it makes such fine lines. Need to play with it more so I can manipulate it better.
(Harder to hold than a regular pen.)

Pointed brush similar

Did this last June (2020).
I cannot remember, but I believe i used my pointed brush for her name. However, you can see that it looks very similar to folded pen work. (I'm sure I used my brush b/c of the porous paper and bleeding/feathering.)

Added tiny gem stickers. Close ups below:
