Happy New Year!

Created this for an insert, but didn't turn out as originally intended (see below).

Not loving the layout, as too much white space to the right.

Before adding color. Like how my numbers turned out! (have improved so much over the years)

This was my original idea: the clear overlay. But not really working, so added the words at the bottom.

And another idea... (i like this saying)

Hoping 2025 is a good to us all. (or rather, may the good outweigh the bad)

I really got into these varied lettering trees this year -- had so much fun with them! (*See my Snail Mail blog to see other samples:  https://snailmailingmadness.blogspot.com/  )

So, here is one I created for Meg (PTEx) trying to match her name on the env.

"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year"

This one is so near perfect. I love how the M & e at the top match her name (see snail mail blog -- will post soon!), and the double stroke S. Where things started going wrong is the Neuland-ish "Happy" (bad spacing) and too much ink on the w of "new" (Wink of Stella brush pen) -- grrr. (not my fault)

Other than that, I love it! (hope the recipient does too.)

Holiday Greetings (varied letters)

Inspired by the card sent to Nele (then, the varied lettering tree names)

It says, "Happy Holidays, Season's Greetings, Merry & Bright, Peace and Good Tidings, Love, joy, Ho Ho Ho, and Happy New Year" with my signature, date and "Noel" for the stump.

Although, overall, I'm extremely proud of it, it is, of course, flawed. 😕  I won't say which letter(s), in hopes you don't see it! 😉😏

Very time-consuming, or I would have redone.

Various Lettering to Nele

This idea was inspired by the card below. (purchased from P&I -- lettering by Charles Pearce:  the word Peace lettered in diff. styles & languages.)

I started out doing her name on the env. in this manner (diff. hands/ styles), then instead of writing a note inside the card, decided to letter in the same manner, tree shape too.

Styles used: pp italic, blackletter, Neuland, versal, pp script, double uncial, italic, tall uncial, b-nib monoline typewriter, brush, uncial, folded pen, akim pp, semi-foundational, B-nib Enviro, pp, and combo italic/gothic. Finished with pp semi-Pointura.

Styles: Dancing Cap, italic, drawn tall uncial, monoline Enviro, Blackletter, foundational, folded pen, Neuland, brush, bnib akim, double italic, funky combo, uncial

2.5 x 3.5 insert: Various trees

This also inspired me to do more lettering like this!

Noel (Dancing Caps)

Another Flashback Friday piece...

In the early 2000's, I participated in a Snail Mail Cmas exchange, where we got paired up with partners (cannot remember with what group online). We were to send them something handmade, and a favorite recipe. This was before digital cameras & phones, so I don't have a picture of the whole package, but I do know I kinda went "all out", as i packaged this nicely, and included some votive candles as well as some small candies. 

Although this looks simple, it was a bit of a time-consuming project, as I lettered NOEL on both sides, then made it into a hanging by pasting the ribbon in between, and adding bells at the bottom.

I hope the recipient liked. Wonder if they kept it or tossed.

Not my best lettering with the Dancing Caps, but I was proud of these 2 letters.

I may re-create for our home and/or a snail mail pal.
