Fall project turned env.

This started out as a piece for my home, but i didn't like, so I converted into a fall env. (Sept., 2020)

Before: Full piece ("falling leaves, pumpkin spice, apple season")
Cut out
Converted env.
Didn't need the extra postage, but I love these butterfly stamps!

Alphabet Garden

See my Snail Mail Blog for other pics related to this post (https://snailmailingmadness.blogspot.com/2021/09/alphabet-garden.html)

This redo came about as a bit of a snowball brainstorm. Pic below is original. It's abstract alphabet letters across the page. I immediately saw it as an envelope idea. Then once I did it (pic above), I saw it as grass-looking letters, so I decided to do it in green (see below).

How fun, huh? Couldn't wait to add the finishing touches, but then, I got the idea to do it as names instead!

After adding flowers. Still have yet to send.

Lina's is the first I did as a name. Love how it turned out. (Not thrilled about the stamp though.)

Below are some trials pieces.

Did this as an insert (meant to do as a postcard, then I forgot and cut down too small).

It's Fall! (Happy Autumn)

My redo for this is further down (2nd & 3rd pics.) The top one (autumn) is just an extra piece, experimenting with expressive lettering.

Saw a similar "a" earlier this month, and LOVE it!

Love this lettering -- feel it's super-fun. Happy with result.

What I did last year. Blech. I didn't like it then and couldn't figure out why.
Now that my lettering has gotten better, I know!  :)

Filter. Fun.

Another autumn (that could actually be redone too!) my "a" got messed up (angle), but not bad.

"Gestural" lettering (Redos Challenge)

This is my take on a piece posted by Rolf Pens on the 'Gram (very bottom pic). I love their s / t ligature, so that's what I was mainly going for. But then I realized it didn't quite mimic theirs, so I redid on a practice sheet.

Not quite the same, but still fun inspo. (Horizon Folded nib)

Word Redo

A few years ago I did a challenge with a local "lettering" group (fizzled out -- didn't last long!) It was to take one word and letter it 30 diff. ways.
As a "joke", I chose the word, "word" but then really got into creating, and did way more than 30.

There are a few of those I want to redo, and this was one of them. The only "O" that turned out on the bottom one, is the 2nd. I didn't know how to manipulate my folded pen to get them all similar, and now that I do, I redid to look much better and more like I wanted initially.

Practice letters (redo)

I copied this page (middle pic) from a book, and my first attempt (bottom pic) wasn't too bad. The d and g are ok, but I don't like my f, or how the e crosses into it. Even if I hadn't crossed it twice, I still wouldn't like.

This redo is much better. Love that tail on the g.

Fun "technique" to Jean

This is something that happened by accident. I was testing my markers on dark scrap paper (that had some dried acrylic ink on it) and I accidentally colored over the ink. Voila! It made the ink colorful. The only bad thing is that it can wipe off easily.

Decided to try it on an env. for Jean:

Pearl white acrylic ink and marker over.

Back. Used color pencil on top and markers for the zip.

Nature (Redo)

Another post fitting for this time of year (and the wonderful weather we've been having). Get out and enjoy nature!
Bottom piece (from ig) done in brush; I used my Horizon folded nib.

beautiful redo

I did the bottom piece last year, as a demo video. I don't like the mini-tail on the b, the ink smeared by the e, and the "flourish" at the end makes the l look like an f.
Like my redo much better.

walnut ink, drop-in colors, and Horizon pen.

New Env (Redo)

This was for one of my 100 Days of Redos.

Although I love the colors, the original (bottom) makes me cringe. The top tail of the g looks fun wrapped around the t, but I hate it. I just feel like my lettering has improved so much, esp. the past few months.

It's so funny how some things that I did many years ago, might have turned out great, but things from just a few years ago, are so bad. I would have redone on same color paper, but I didn't have any. I need more white too.

Redo 1 (Instagram Challenge)

Thought this fitting for one of my first posts.
The bottom pic (original) is something that's been in my "To Emulate" Pinterest file, and although I want to do mine more similar to that, this one is my take for now.

Hello September!

Not sure when, but at some point, I'm going to start posting all my Redo's on IG for a #100Days of Redos Challenge. I was thinking of starting right now, but might also wait til next year when the next 100 Day Challenge starts.

Til then, I'm going to start some, and this is one. I did the original (see below) in 2019, but did not like my lettering at all. I loved the watercolor pieces though (esp. my apple), so when I tried to redo, what happens? Love my lettering, but not the watercolor (bad paper).

Before adding leaf. (better pic - lighting)

some drop-in inks and metallics added.

from 2019.

Another version. (Love this too)

Sketch (love my "b")

Did this one last year (2020) and a video (posted to my youtube:
I like it ok, but the ink bled.
